Breeding Philosophy

In the breeding of my Snowshoes, I emphasize excellent health, gentle and loving temperament, and purrsonality, as well as conformation to the Snowshoe standard. Consistent with this policy, I breed discriminately and only upon personal satisfaction that good homes are found for all kittens. I emphasize quality, not quantity. I plan a breeding program with the quality of the breed kept foremost in mind, as well as the unique temperament and beauty achieved through selective breeding. I breed my females only once a year to ensure their continuing good health. My breeding stock is free from disease and undergoes a complete medical examination once a year.

Except under limited circumstances, I do not offer stud service or sell breeding stock, and kittens will be altered by contract or before going to their new homes. When I have them altered myself, my kittens stay with me an additional two weeks to monitor their healing. The cost of the altering is charged back to the customer.

My kittens are raised underfoot and handled daily from birth. They undergo a complete physical examination by a veterinarian and receive their first vaccinations before they are released to their new homes. The cost of the first vet check and immunizations is included in the price of the kitten. I do not release my kittens before they are 12 weeks old. This time period gives all the kittens time to become thoroughly weaned, litter-box trained, and socialized before they go to their new homes. They have by that time begun to display their personalities, and I can match the new owner with the right kitten.
